On Wednesday, 17 November, an agreement was signed at the Municipal Office with the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Warsaw, represented by Diana Piotrowska, Acting Director of the Department of Nature Protection and Forestry, and the Municipality of Pobiedziska, represented by Secretary of the Municipality of Pobiedziska/Vice Mayor Artur Ostatkiewicz and Municipality Treasurer Agata Majcherczak. The beneficiaries signed an agreement for the 'Green and Blue Pobiedziska’ project, with a grant amount of PLN 3,551,375.90 co-financed by the EEA Financial Mechanism 2014-2021, implemented with substantive support from the Norwegian Partner INTBAU Norway.

The comprehensive project submitted by the Municipality of Pobiedziska to the competition 'Realisation of investments in green-blue infrastructure in cities’ includes both: adaptation, mitigation and education and information activities. The subject matter of the educational activities is dedicated to climate change and the promotion of good practices in this area. By implementing tasks that increase permeable surfaces, rainwater management and planting, the municipality’s resilience to negative phenomena resulting from climate change will be increased. The main objective of the project is to increase knowledge of harmful substances that seep into the ground with precipitation and can affect climate change and the destruction of ecosystems.

• connection of the „promenade” with Kostrzynska Street and the City Park,
• introducing elements of greening in the built-up areas by planting greenery and creating a community garden to provide educational activities for children, young and old,
• creation of ecological alternatives to motorised traffic through the construction of a pedestrian and cycle path and an educational trail,
• increasing energy efficiency and the share of renewable energy sources used for lighting by installing solar lighting at the promenade linking the 'promenade’ with Kostrzynska Street,
ADAPTATION MEASURES:
from the field of green infrastructure – creation of a system of urban greenery ( green planting, rain gardens,) from the field of blue infrastructure water management, restoration and the use of permeable pavements.
MITIGATION MEASURES:
Promotion of cycling as an alternative to motorised travel, creation of infrastructure in the form of bicycle racks and promotion of this mode of transport in competitions, use of RES in the form of solar lamps for lighting and supplementation of created green areas.
EDUCATION AND INFORMATION ACTIVITIES
expanding knowledge on climate change through the website, the Pobiedziska Newsletter, activation activities, competitions, training and workshops.
